Y11 Options Presentations

Y11 Options Presentations

On Sunday 5th Feb all Y11 students spent the morning in the MPH listening to different subject representatives discuss their IB subject to help them decide what subjects they would like to do next year. IB students typically choose 6 subjects from a range of categories. Students have to take into consideration what they are good at, what they enjoy and what will help them with their potential career path. Between presentations, Mr Butcher (Head of IB) and Mrs Rangi (Assistant Head of IB) ran activities that stimulated thought and made students aware of student centred learning.  They also fielded questions that ranged from general IB queries such as “What does IB stand for?” (Answer: International Baccalaureate) to more specific subject questions such as “What are the difference higher level and standard level in the subject of Visual Arts?” (number of portfolio pieces).

It was obvious the Y11 students are serious about selecting what is right for them next year. It is going to be an exciting year next year for these potential IB1’s as they return to join the IB community here at BISJ.
